Such a luxury certainly isn't available on platforms lacking disk or battery backup, where the save file has to be translated into a reasonably compact sequence of letters and numbers to produce a password for the player to write down. ![]() This is actually a very tricky problem, especially if you don't have the luxury of just writing out the entire contents of memory. To be able to stop the game and then restart it later from that exact same point requires that the entire state of the game be rendered into a serial representation and saved to some non-volatile medium (that is, a disk, battery-backed memory within a cartridge, or flash memory on a card). Video gamers often take the technical difficulty of saving the game to disc for granted. Not sure if it’s relevant, but we’re both playing on iPad Air 4. Furthermore, she tried to get some of her progress back, closed the game and reopened again to see if she could keep her progress, did this a few times and each time she lost it all. I also closed the app at the same time, but when I opened it, I hadn’t lost any progress at all. She still had all the Game Center progress of course, but she was right back at level 1 again. ![]() ![]() However, at one point, she closed the app, and then when she opened it the next morning, all her progress was lost. She got immediately hooked, and I pretty much lost her to the game. I’ve been playing it a fair bit the last few days, and got my girlfriend to download it too. Hey all, I’ve been a fan of the Alto series since the first one first came out in 2015, so of course I was super excited when the Arcade version was released. ![]()
